Yunnan, meaning "South of the Clouds,"
Province is home to more than 42 million people that make
up 21 different ethnic groups (the most diverse population
in China). It's situated on a 1.2 -mile (2-km) high plateau and enjoys a protected location, with mountains to the north, east and west, it has a mild climate with an average temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit, making it spring all year round.
Its landscape is one of the more varied in China
being home to alpine mountain ranges, snow-covered glaciers,
tropical rain forests, farmlands and rivers.
