million national research and development distance learning grant. The purpose of this grant is to develop research-based
student instruction to teach beginning English reading to early elementary
level non-English speaking students, gather progress data through embedded
assessments, and based on the students’ individual needs, provide professional
development to teachers, all delivered via the Web. Responsible for all aspects
of the work; budget, personnel, content, software, programming, reporting,
testing, and dissemination. Create production teams; work with Hawaii and U.S.
mainland based private and public institutions to create content and software.
Locate developmental partner schools across the U.S. and Pacific regions. Field
test lessons. Evaluate program with comparison schools. Present results at
national/international conferences and journals. Disseminate final product.
